One research associate position is available on grant-free NOMA and/or robust beamforming for millimeter-wave communications.
Contract type: Full time, fixed term (until March 2023)
Salary: 50,000 – 60,000 USD per year (depending on your carrier)
Location: Chofu, Tokyo (20 mins from Shinjuku district)
Applications are invited for a Research Associate or Project-based Assistant Professor position in the Advanced Wireless and Communication Research Center, The University of Electro-Communications in Tokyo, Japan. The research is conducted as a part of a project on wireless communications and signal processing for further advancement of 5G networks by the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) in collaboration with KDDI, Panasonic, KKE, ATR, and Tohoku University.
This project deals with new physical layer technologies and radio access architecture to realize highly-reliable millimeter-wave (mmWave) communications where users have different and time-varying combinations of well-known 5G requirements, namely, ultra-high data rate, ultra-low latency, and massive connections. To meet such requirements, we will develop two major technologies: 1) new random access architecture based on grant-free non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) and 2) new multi-coordinated robust beam-forming to mitigate critical effect due to blockage in mmWave communications. Obtained results will be delivered to 3GPP.
The successful applicant should hold a Ph.D. degree in signal processing, wireless communications, or optimization. You should have a significant publication track record and should demonstrate extensive knowledge and experience in several areas among communication theory, signal processing, MIMO signal processing, and optimization. Good written and oral communication skills in English are essential.
- Duties and responsibilities
The duties involve carrying out research program described above, undertaking project management, collaborating with academic and industry partners, and/or supervising graduate students. Besides, the Research Associate will be expected to submit a sufficient number of publications to high-level refereed journals such as IEEE Transactions.
